About this blog

The takeaway owners I meet everyday are inspiring.   They work incredibly long hours preparing the delicious meals we love to enjoy in the comfort of our homes.  Despite their hard work however, they say that getting more orders is harder than in the past.  The traditional ways of promoting their takeaways just aren’t as effective as they used to be.

I guess that’s why I’m often asked how to get more orders, find more customers and make more money.   That’s what inspired me to create “Market you takeaway”.  I realised a webTV show would be a great way to share some of my ideas with a much broader audience and help more people at the same time.

The show and this website are designed to both provide information and create a forum in which like minded people can share ideas.  Hopefully, the topics I cover will be both fun and practical.

Hope your next order is a big one!

About me!

I’ve always been an entrepreneur at heart.  My first venture was raising calves at our family farm in rural Canada.  From there I moved into publishing, recording and software.  Over the years, I have enjoyed working with other small business owners as they develop and grow their projects.  I guess that is why I find my work with Order Wizard’s restaurant customers so rewarding. For more information about Order Wizard, the complete restaurant marketing system, please go to www.orderwizard.co.uk.

Whilst most of my career has been in small companies, I also enjoyed my 6 years at Royal Mail, my first large corporate.  Before returning to my small company roots, I was the Head of Strategy – Media at Royal Mail, which was great fun.  I also serve on the Advisory Council for the Direct Marketing Association. The DMA is the trade association for direct marketers and is the only organisation that represents clients, agencies and suppliers. To learn more about the DMA, please go to www.dma.org.uk.

Academically, I have had the fun of studying all over the world.  I have an undergraduate degree in International Business that was jointly achieved at the University of Victoria in Canada and Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan, an MBA from Edinburgh University and I completed the Media Strategies programme at the Harvard Business School.

All the best,

Barry Larson
